Ulpian Legal draws its name from Ulpian, the renowned Roman jurist who significantly impacted the development of Roman law. He moved to Rome and rose to become considered one of the greatest legal authorities of his time.
As a prominent legal scholar in the 3rd century AD, Ulpian contributed immensely to the codification of Roman law, which laid the foundation for modern legal systems.
His works include Ad Sabinum, a commentary on the Ius Civile, in over fifty books; Ad Edictum, a commentary on the Edict, in eighty three books; collections of opinions, responses and disputations; books of rules and institutions; treatises on the functions of the different magistrates — one of them, the De Officio Proconsulis Libri X., being a comprehensive exposition of the criminal law; monographs on various statutes, on testamentary trusts, and a variety of other works.
